Responsibilities
Tasks
- Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning
- Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
- Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions
- Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease
- Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes
- Plant and move trees
- Tree removal
Credentials

- Horticulturist Trade Certification
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification
- Arboriculturists Trade Certification
Apprenticeship training
- Level one apprenticeship training
