Responsibilities
Tasks
- Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures
- Plan and control budget and expenditures
- Plan and organize daily operations
- Provide information/training to employers, employees and general public
- Review HR directives to assure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Train staff
- Establish and implement policies and procedures
- Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products
- Oversee the classification and rating of occupations
- Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards
- Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses
- Oversee development of communication strategies
- Develop and implement health and safety plans
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Oversee the preparation of reports
- Advise senior management
- Respond to employee questions and complaints
- Liaise with management, union officials and HR consultants
- Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures
- Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
